The territory of kingdom Thailand find about twenty seven thousand Buddhist temples and monastery and each temple or monastery has their history, their legend, their secret. We want to a little describe to you about one of them – Wat Phra Thong or the monastery of Golden Buddha.
The monastery of golden Buddha or Wat Phra Thong is located on the street of Thepkasatri, in the administrative division of Thalang, Phuket island. In this monastery Buddha's statute, half buried in the earth, is located. Local residents believe that the part of the statue concealed underground is made from pure gold. Certainly, there are no proofs which testify in favor of this version and even the very history of the monastery of the Wat Phra Thong is not fixed by chroniclers; therefore we in our story can rest only on the legend which passes from to. Legend says, many years ago because of the flood, caused by long pouring rains, the part of the island were flooded by water. The houses of local residents were destroyed by aqueous flows and the trees of the adjacent jungle were throw downed unprecedented wind force. When water slept, all environments of the place of Thalang proved to be under the cover of slit. After this, boy's father left also left for the field, covered with the slit where he found buffalo, also corpse. After returning home man felt asleep and saw the sleep in which his son and buffalo died from the fact that they touched the head of Golden Buddha's statue.
For following morning the inhabitants of the settlement where lived the boys. They were all together left to that place with the strange stone and as they were astonished when instead of the stone at that place itself they revealed gold Buddha's statue. After praying, they decided not to touch statue, but after returning conversely into their settlement, they together send all to the governor and they reported about the strange finding. After learning about the fact that in the field gold Buddha's statue is located, governor ordered his people to dig out statue, however, how much people not attempted this to make, their attempts remained unsuccessful. Furthermore, all, who participated in the works on the extraction of statue from under the earth, occurred strange means by the bitten wild wasps and bees. The same who came to the statue to pray, insects did not touch. Finally, after many days of works the governor ordered to end the attempts to dig out statue and gave task of works the governor ordered to end the attempts to dig out statue and gave task to build at this place monastery so that golden Buddha's means forever would remain at this place for those protected from the rain and the hot tropical sun.
Luang Pho Cham
Monk – Hero of Phuket
Luang Pho Cham (1827 – 1908) The former director of the monastery of Chalong Temple is noted as the hero of Phuket. He played important role in the suppression of uprising miners in 1876 during the administration of the King Rama V.

Great priest lived up to 81 year and was acknowledge not only among the inhabitants of Phuket and adjacent province, but also among the Buddhists of Phang-Nga. Tao Tepkrasatree
Tao Tepkrasatree, or Chan, was the eldest daughter of one of the governors of Thalang. She was born before the fall of the Ayudhya Kingdom in 1767. She had two brothers and two sisters. One of her sisters was Mook, who assisted her in the war against the Burmese and was given the title of Tao Srisunthorn. Her mother was a widowed daughter of the Sultan of Kedah named Masia.
Chan was first married to a son of the governor of Takuatung and had one son and one daughter by him. Unfortunately, her first husband died very young. After her husband's death, Chan came back to Thalang with her children to live with her parents. Here in Thalang, she met a governor of a small town near Chumporn whom she later married and had five children by him.
For some reason, Chan and her husband were separated for a while but finally he came back to Thalang to become the governor of the town until he died in 1785, shortly before the invasion of the Burmese in the same year.
Today, her statue together with the status of her sister Tao Srisunthorn stands at a crossroads between Phuket town and the airport.
